The relentless bombardment and violence of the ongoing war have inflicted profound suffering on the people of Gaza:
High Casualty Rates:
The conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 32,600 civilians, with thousands more injured and maimed. Families are being torn apart, and communities are left reeling from the staggering loss of life.
Mass Displacement:
Over 1.7 million people, representing three-quarters of Gaza’s total population, have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety. The scale of displacement is unprecedented, leaving families without shelter, food, or basic necessities.
Starvation and Food Insecurity:
The blockade imposed by Israel has severely restricted access to essential resources such as food, water, and medical supplies. Shockingly, over 90% of Gaza’s population is facing crisis levels of food insecurity, with more than 1.1 million people on the brink of starvation.
Destruction of Infrastructure:
Critical infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and water and sanitation facilities, has been mercilessly targeted and destroyed. The war has left entire communities without access to essential services, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Collapsing Healthcare System:
The healthcare system in Gaza is on the brink of collapse. With only 14 out of 36 hospitals functioning, medical facilities are overwhelmed and under-equipped. Urgent support is needed to ensure that hospitals have the resources they need to provide lifesaving treatment to the injured and sick.
Psychological Trauma:
The relentless violence and instability have taken a toll on the mental health and well-being of the population. More than half of Gaza’s population is experiencing trauma and loss, with limited resources available for support and counseling.
