Many children in underserved regions develop facial tumors — from vascular malformations to jaw or soft-tissue growths. These conditions can disrupt breathing, swallowing, and speaking, and they often worsen without timely intervention. In many cases, surgical removal and reconstructive surgery can restore function and appearance, but such operations require skilled teams and funds that are out of reach for poor families.

Naomi is eight years old. She used to be bright, curious, and full of laughter.
Though her family was poor, Naomi’s smile made every small thing feel like enough.Then a small swelling appeared on the side of her face. At first it seemed minor, and her parents hoped it would go away. Instead it kept growing — slowly at first, then faster — until the mass pressed against her cheek and mouth. Eating became painful. Speaking grew difficult. Her laughter went silent.

Classmates began to avoid her. Strangers stared. Naomi started wearing a scarf, hiding from mirrors, and retreating into herself. The little girl who used to sing on the walk to school now stays home, ashamed and afraid.Her parents have done everything they can. They have sold what they could, borrowed from neighbors, and traveled to the nearest clinic. But the cost of the surgery Naomi urgently needs is far beyond their means. Without operation, the tumor will likely keep growing, threatening not only her appearance but her ability to eat, speak, and breathe normally.

Naomi’s story is not unique — many children across Africa and other low-resource regions face the same cruel choice: live with progressive disability and social rejection, or find a way to pay for life-changing surgery they cannot afford.

This is why Home Safe Haven Facial Reconstruction Project exists. We partner with volunteer surgical teams to provide safe tumor removal and reconstructive care — restoring both function and dignity. But we can only do this when people give.If you can help, please donate or share Naomi’s story.
