Many riverside towns in rural areas of the Southeastern U.S. have been devastated, with almost all houses severely damaged. Streams and rivers have flooded, dams have collapsed, and the hurricane has caused significant destruction to infrastructure, homes, hospitals, and utilities. Trees have been uprooted, power lines blown down, and flooding has been especially severe in the Appalachian Mountains, North Carolina, and Tennessee. After the hurricane, millions are left without power, disrupting daily life and essential services. Many people have lost their lives or are injured, and many lack homeowners insurance, leaving them without government assistance. Vulnerable groups, including children, women, and the elderly, are struggling to secure basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing.
